Encyclopedia - Yakovlev Yak-28
Although similar looking to the Yak-25, the Yak-28 is a completely new design. It first flew on 5 March 1958 as the Yak-129. The first versions were tactical attack/bomber aircraft, but the Yak-28P was an all-weather interceptor with a two-man crew. It first entered service in 1961. Production ended in 1967 with a total of 437 aircraft being built and was withdrawn from service in the mid-1980's.
