EMBRAER sells five more E195 jets to Lufthansa
30 September 2011
Aircraft will be operated by Lufthansa regional partner Air Dolomiti, from
Italy
São José dos Campos, September 29, 2011 - Embraer and Deutsche Lufthansa
AG signed a contract, today, for the purchase of five additional EMBRAER
195 (E195) jets. The aircraft will be operated by Verona-based Air
Dolomiti, Lufthansa's regional partner in Italy. The value of the
acquisition, at list price, is USD 226 million. Deliveries are scheduled
to begin in the second half of 2012.
Air Dolomiti currently operates five E195s. The additional aircraft will
see Air Dolomiti's E-Jets fleet double. In response to the growing demand
within Europe, the new equipment will be used to add flights on domestic
routes and increase frequencies between Verona and Lufthansa's Munich hub.
The E195s will be configured with the new Slim Seat Plus, an ergonomically
designed seat that is comfortable, yet weighs less, to help reduce fuel
consumption.
"Lufthansa's follow-on order demonstrates the proven ability of the E195
to operate in the highly competitive European market", said Paulo César de
Souza e Silva, President, Embraer Commercial Aviation. "The doubling of
Air Dolomiti's E-Jets fleet is an endorsement of the airline's confidence
in the aircraft's compatibility with the carrier's expanding network."
Nico Buchholz, Executive Vice President Lufthansa Group Fleet Management,
said: "I am delighted that this additional order will enable us to secure
the development of our medium-haul fleet. It is the next logical step in
our strategy of ongoing fleet modernisation with regards to fuel
efficiency, operating costs, noise and emissions."
With this new order, Lufthansa will be the operator of the largest fleet
of E-Jets in Europe. The company has ordered 43 E190s and E195s since May
2007. Today, 28 E-Jets are in service with three of Lufthansa's five
regional partner carriers: Lufthansa CityLine, Air Dolomiti and Augsburg
Airways.
About Air Dolomiti
Air Dolomiti was founded in 1989 by Italian businessman Alcide Leali. It
was acquired by Lufthansa in March 2003, but retained its name and brand
identity within the Lufthansa Regional portfolio. The mission of Air
Dolomiti was clear from the beginning - to become the first regional
company in Italy to operate on a European level, with direct flights to
the most strategic medium-sized business cities in Italy. The company
caters primarily to business travellers and is focused on delivering
customized, top-level quality service. Further information is available

About the Embraer family of E-Jets
The Embraer family of E-Jets consists of four commercial jets with 70 to
122 seats, featuring advanced engineering design, efficient performance,
outstanding operating economics, low emissions levels and a spacious cabin
without middle seats (2x2).
The E-Jets have a maximum cruising speed of Mach 0.82, can fly at 41,000
feet (12,500 meters) and have ranges of up to 2,400 nautical miles (4,450
kilometers). The high degree of commonality among the four aircraft -
EMBRAER 170, EMBRAER 175, EMBRAER 190 and EMBRAER 195 - results in
exceptional savings for carriers, in terms of crew training and the cost
of spare parts and maintenance. Another key feature of the E-Jets is the
state-of-the-art, fly-by-wire technology, which increases operating
safety, while reducing pilot workload and fuel consumption.
The double-bubble fuselage design provides superior comfort and includes
two main passenger entrances and two service doors, thus minimizing
aircraft turn-around time. The E-Jets offer much more space for
passengers, in a single or dual-class layout, than other aircraft with
similar seating capacities. For more details, visit
www.EmbraerCommercialJets.com.
The E-Jets have achieved outstanding success, with over 1,000 firm orders
from 60 companies in 40 countries. More than 800 E-Jets have been
delivered and have, collectively, accumulated 5 million flight hours and
transported 200 million passengers, worldwide. This proven family is
helping airlines to right size low load factor narrowbody routes, to
replace older, inefficient aircraft, and to develop new markets with lower
operating costs, greater efficiency, and outstanding passenger comfort. To

jets, visit www.eforefficiency.com.
