First Parachute Jump

The first man to parachute jump from the sky was Andre-Jacques Garnerin who assembled a parachute onto a balloon, and was released at altitude. Instead of a body harness he stayed in the basket attached to the parachute, which was fitted below the balloon. The parachute was very basic so the canopy swung like mad and he became terribly sick.
